POKHARA: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), currently in Kaski Police custody, has been taken to Rupandehi to take his statement on Tuesday.

Lamichhane has been detained for 24 days under investigation for the misappropriation of cooperative funds.

On Sunday, the Kaski District Court authorized an additional 13 days of detention.

The police, who are investigating the embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, were unable to complete their investigation there.

As a result, the Rupandehi police have brought Lamichhane for questioning regarding the Supreme Cooperative of Rupandehi.

According to sources in Rupandehi police, plans were initially made to transport him by plane to Bhairahawa on Monday.

However, due to scheduling issues with flights, the transfer has been rescheduled for Tuesday.

The Rupandehi District Court has authorized the arrest of 12 individuals, including Lamichhane and GB Rai, in connection with the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of 19.6 million rupees from the Supreme Cooperative based in Butwal.

The Special Parliamentary Investigation Committee report indicates that Rs 142.9 million flowed to the Gorkha Media Network through various intermediaries.

Alongside Lamichhane, former DIG Chabilal Joshi, the vice president of Gorkha Media Network, remains in Kaski police custody. Banjade has already been brought to Rupandehi to provide a statement.
