Prachanda rules out party split and leadership changes
Chairman of Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has dismissed concerns about a possible split within the party.
Speaking to the media after a Standing Committee meeting in Parisdanda in Koteswor on Monday, Prachanda emphasized that there is no risk of a party division.
When questioned about Deputy General Secretary Janardhan Sharma’s suggestion that Prachanda should step down from his leadership role, Prachanda clarified that the Maoist party operates without a top-down approach and that all members move forward collectively.
KMC orders Chaudhary Group’s Chandbagh School to vacate government land within 2 days
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued an ultimatum to the Chandbagh School, operated by the Chaudhary Group, to vacate its premises within two days.
The school, located in Bansbari, has been operating on land that was once the site of the Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory but was later nationalized.
The Chaudhary Group had been running Chandbagh School on a 10-ropani plot of government land, which had been transferred to their name.
Maoist Center debates future strategy amid leadership uncertainty
Maoist Center’s Standing Committee meeting continued at the party office in Parisdanda in Koteswor today.
This Standing Committee meeting marks the first since party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ departed from government.
Spokesman Agni Prasad Sapkota stated that the meeting is being held on Monday as not all standing committee members have finished sharing their opinions.
Foreign Minister Rana advocates for new air routes with Indian Foreign Secretary
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Arju Rana Deuba held talks with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is currently visiting Nepal.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, covered a range of topics including bilateral relations, economic and development assistance, and various projects.
A key topic of discussion was the need for additional air routes to Nepal to enhance air connectivity between Nepal and India.
Minister Dr. Rana requested that the Government of India consider expanding air routes to alleviate the challenges faced by Bhairahawa and Pokhara airports, which currently rely on the Simara route for incoming flights.
Home Minister Lekhak and Indian Foreign Secretary Misri hold talks
Indian Foreign Secretary Bikram Misri, currently on a two-day visit to Nepal, met with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Monday morning.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, was described as a courtesy call by the Home Minister’s Secretariat.
Indian Foreign Secretary hold talks with Finance Minister Paudel
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is currently visiting Nepal, met on Monday morning at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar.
Their discussions focused on economic and development assistance, the progress of ongoing projects, and the mutual relations between the two countries.
Indian Foreign Secretary Misri, who arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday, paid courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on the same day.
Two houses collapse in Baitadi landslide
Two houses collapsed in Dilashaini, Baitadi, due to a landslide triggered by heavy rain. The home of Ammar Bohara from Daunkhola in Dilashaini Rural Municipality-3 was severely damaged.
Police Inspector Balram Pandey, spokesperson for the District Police Office, reported that all crops and possessions inside Bohara’s house were destroyed.
10 people arrested in Kavre for stealing six transformers
Police have arrested 10 individuals involved in stealing and selling electrical transformers across various locations in Kavre. According to the District Police Office Kavre, an organized gang had removed six transformers from different sites in the district and sold the copper wire inside them.
The rise in transformer thefts prompted the mobilization of a special team, leading to the arrests.
10 passengers injured in bus and truck collision in Chitwan
Ten passengers were injured when a bus and a truck collided at Pampha Bridge in Rapti Municipality-5 of Chitwan along the East-West Highway.
Ten passengers of the bus were injured when the bus with registration plate number Ba Pra 01-006 Kha 4799 heading towards Dharan from Kathmandu and the truck (Na 6Kha 5927) going in the same direction collided with each other this morning, police said.
Truck carrying goods worth over 71 lakhs seized by police
Bara Police have seized a truck en route from Birgunj to Chitwan on suspicion of customs evasion.
The police intercepted the cargo truck with the registration number Na 3 Kha 3950 at Amlekhganj Chowk, Bara Jitpur Simra Sub-Metropolitan City-21.
According to Bara Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Sapkota, the truck was seized by a team from the Amlekhganj Area Police Office.
The truck was carrying retail goods valued at Rs 71,67,534, including cosmetics, ready-made fancy clothing, and mill parts.
NC leader Acharya calls for investigation into Giribandhu Tea Estate and fake Bhutanese refugee scam
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Madhu Acharya has demanded formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe various high-profile scandals, including the fake Bhutanese refugee case, the gold scandal, and the Giribandhu Tea Estate.
NC central member Acharya stressed the need to combat corruption and ensure good governance during a meeting of the party’s central working committee on Monday.
Acharya advocated for the formation of this committee to thoroughly investigate the Yeti and Omni scandals, the Giribandhu Tea Estate scandal, the fake Bhutanese refugee case, and the gold scandal.
