UML Chairman KP Oli to be appointed as PM on Sunday

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel is set to appoint CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli as the Prime Minister on Sunday, following submissions from CPN-UML and Nepali Congress with MP signatures under Article 76 of the Constitution.

Sources at Sheetal Niwas have confirmed Oli’s appointment and subsequent swearing-in ceremony the same (Sunday) evening at 5:30 pm.

Three years after his deposition by the Supreme Court, Oli, supported by Sher Bahadur Deuba, has reasserted his claim to premiership, this time with backing from Nepali Congress and seven other parties.

This marks Oli’s second opportunity to lead with a two-thirds majority.
