ACC Premier Cup: Malaysia sets 144 runs target against Nepal



KATHMANDU: Spinner Deependra Singh Airee’s fine bowling curbed the Malaysia’s aggressive batting confining it to 144 runs against Nepal in the ACC Premier Cup 2024.

Malaysia, winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Al Amarat Cricket Ground, lost 3 wickets but managed to score 143 runs in 20 overs.

Malaysia’s captain, Virandeep Singh, played scored the highest 68 runs with 5 fours and 4 sixes in 55 balls.

Malaysia’s openers, Virandeep Singh and Muhammad Amir, contributed a partnership of 35 runs in 5.1 overs to start the innings briskly.

Amir fell to Deependra Singh Airee’s delivery after scoring 16 runs off 16 balls before getting bowled.

Later, Sharvin Muniandy and Virandeep Singh shared a partnership of 82 runs for the second wicket.

Sharvin was bowled by Abinash Bohora after scoring 41 runs off 33 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Nepal’s Deependra took 2 wickets, conceding 14 runs in 4 overs, while Abinash Bohora took 1 wicket, giving away 28 runs in 4 overs.
