PM Dahal urges all Nepalis to strive further for motherland
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged Nepali speakers and people of Nepali origin residing across the globe to utilize the skills, knowledge, and capital they have acquired for the benefit of Nepal. PM Dahal conveyed this message during a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) at his official residence in Baluwatar today. While acknowledging the diversity of nationalities among Nepali speakers and people of Nepali origin worldwide, PM Dahal emphasized the importance of uniting them under the common identity of Nepali heritage.
Nepal’s winning start in ACC Premier Cup
Nepal has made a victorious start in the ACC Premier Cup undergoing in Malaysia. Nepal began their campaign by defeating Malaysia by five wickets in the first match. Chasing Malaysia’s target of 144 runs, Nepal achieved the target in 19.2 overs with the loss of five wickets.
For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh scored 32, captain Rohit Paudel contributed 28, Kushal Bhurtel made 24, Gulshan Jha scored an unbeaten 19, and Sandeep Jora added an unbeaten 12 runs.
SC halts formation of new Land Commission
The Supreme Court has upheld its interim order, preventing the formation of a new Land Commission. Justices Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Vinod Sharma, constituting a division bench, announced the continuation of the earlier interim order issued by the Court. Previously, a single bench of the Supreme Court had issued an interim order to halt the formation of the commission, leading to the issuance of another interim order by a single bench.
Lumbini CM Mahara garners vote of confidence
Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara has garnered a vote of confidence in Lumbini Province. During Friday’s Province Assembly meeting, Mahara secured the support of 48 lawmakers. He received votes of confidence from 29 members of the CPN-UML, 10 from the Maoist Center, four from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, three from Janata Samajbadi Party, one from the CPN-Unified Socialist Party, and one from an independent member.
Govt forms Recommendation Committee to appoint TRC officer-bearers
The government has formed a recommendation committee to appoint officers for the two transitional justice commissions. During today’s cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu, it was decided to establish a committee chaired by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra. This committee will recommend Chairpersons and members for both the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons. The committee comprises former Supreme Court Justice Jagadish Sharma Poudel, Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, and Stella Tamang, said Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.
Govt recommends parliamentary session closure from April 14
The government has made the decision to advise President Ramchandra Poudel to bring the current parliamentary session to a close. According to government spokesperson Rekha Sharma, the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ resolved to forward a recommendation to the President for concluding the ongoing session starting from midnight on April 14.
Govt recommends Anjan Shakya as National Assembly member
The government has recommended Dr. Anjan Shakya for the position of National Assembly (NA) member. During the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday, it was decided to propose Shakya for the NA membership. Shakya, who previously served as the Nepali Ambassador to Israel, has been nominated for the position by the ruling CPN-UML.
NUP row: Ranjita Shrestha suspends MP Ghanashyam Chaudhary
Ranjita Shrestha, President of Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), has suspended Ghanashyam Chaudhary, a member of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, from the party. In a letter addressed to the State Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari on Friday, Shrestha informed of Chaudhary’s three-month suspension from the party.
No one can ignore RPP anymore: Chair Lingden
Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rajendra Lingden has stated that his party demands attention, declaring, “No one can ignore us anymore.” Lingden made this assertion during his address at the ongoing meeting of the party’s central performance committee in Dhumbarahi. During the meeting, a leader provided updates on the recent public demonstration centered around Kathmandu, which was under review.
