Japan hands over medical equipment to Kathmandu Cancer Center in Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU: The handover ceremony of medical equipment supported by the Government of Japan to Kathmandu Cancer Center (KCC) was held today in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur.

Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Kikuta Yutaka, attended the ceremony.

Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Government of Japan, the Project for the Installation of Medical Equipment at Kathmandu Cancer Center in Bhaktapur District was supported with USD 74,033 (approximately NPR 8.75 million).

This project provided an operating room of KCC with a camera and monitor -equipped operating lights and monitor and a high-performance operating table that can be adjusted in various ways according to the needs of the operation.

On this occasion, Ambassador Kikuta congratulated and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all those involved in the project.

He emphasized that the project has made it possible to provide higher quality medical services.

He also expressed his hope that it will be of great help to patients and their families and contribute to the development of local medical care services.

KCC is a specialized cancer hospital in Changunarayan Municipality and was established in 2016.

KCC has been providing consultations and treatment to cancer patients, but was unable to perform complex surgeries due to the lack of medical equipment.

The Embassy hopes that this project will contribute to the improving response to the high demand for better medical services in the community and further deepen the friendship between the people of Japan and Nepal.

GGP was established to implement projects that directly benefit people at the grassroots level for the socio-economic development of communities.

Since 1991, over 200 GGP projects have been implemented in Nepal.
