KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is holding a meeting of its parliamentary party (PP) at Lhotse Hall, Federal Parliament building in New Baneswor today.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 3 pm and is expected to set the stage for a critical turn of events.

Mahesh Bertaula, the Chief Whip of CPN-UML, dubbed the parliamentary party meeting as a precursor to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s vote of confidence in the House of Representatives to be held on Wednesday.

The meeting, he said, will aim to strategize and unify the party’s stance before the crucial confidence vote.

The political turmoil began when the Maoist Center terminated its alliance with the Nepali Congress and forged a new partnership with CPN-UML last week.

In response, the Nepali Congress withdrew its support to the government.

With the stage set for a high-stakes parliamentary showdown, Prime Minister Dahal is navigating through challenging waters.

The Maoist Center has already issued a whip, directing their party MPs to extend their support to PM Dahal in Wednesday’s vote of confidence.
