Indian national arrested with Rs 18.25 million counterfeit currency in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: The police in Sunsari have seized a substantial amount of counterfeit currency from an Indian national.

The Indian citizen, entering Nepal from Bihar, India through the Kakarvitta border, was detained by the police with counterfeit notes amounting to NPR 18,251,000.

SP Bipin Regmi of Sunsari police stated that the counterfeit notes were discovered during a routine inspection of a Scorpio vehicle with registration number BR 11 X 3429. Upon a thorough search behind the Scorpio, hidden counterfeit notes were found.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Mohammad Sayed from Bihar, India, has been taken into custody.

SP Regmi added that the investigation is currently underway to gather more details.
