Former Minister and 10 others arrested for gambling in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 11 individuals, including former Koshi Province Minister and lawmaker Buddi Kumar Raj Bhandari, in Gaurighat, Kathmandu Metropolitan-8 on Saturday.

A team from the Gaushala Police Circle apprehended them on charges of gambling.

In addition to Bhandari, those arrested include Uttam Prasad Rai, Bir Bahadur Rai, Anish Tamang, Thula Tamang, Deepak Khadka, Purushottam Sharma, Bhim Bahadur Sambahamphe, Rabi Shrestha, Raju Mahat, and Madhev Thapa.

Lawmaker Bhandari previously served as the Social Development Minister of Koshi Province.

Notably, Purushottam Sharma is an actor known for his role as a police inspector in the TV serial ‘Sakkigoni,’ while Bir Bahadur Rai is the former Chairperson of Sotang Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu District.
