Prabhu Sah suggests Home Minister Lamichhane to resign on moral grounds

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Aam Janata Party (AJP) and lawmaker, Prabhu Sah, has suggested that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane should resign on moral grounds.

Sah argued that if the government cannot provide employment for the youth within Nepal, then it has no right to remain in power.

He emphasized that Lamichhane should step down on the basis of morality.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, while presenting his suggestions on the budget for the fiscal year 2081-082, Sah criticized the budget for not including measures to create jobs within Nepal or to bring back and provide employment to those who have gone abroad for work.

“Employment is a fundamental right. Currently, a Foreign Employment Promotion Board has been established in Nepal. Can’t we promote employment in Nepal? Why is there a focus on promoting employment abroad but not in Nepal?” Sah remarked, directing his comments at Home Minister Lamichhane, adding, “You had said you would bring back millions of Nepalis, but we haven’t seen that happen.”

Additionally, Sah drew the government’s attention to the need for legislation to protect the rights of domestic workers in Nepal.

He pointed out that domestic workers employed in the homes of the wealthy are also Nepali citizens and their issues should have been addressed in the budget.
