Mayor of Bagmati Municipality Thapa faces another Rs 300 million corruption case



KATHMANDU: Bharat Kumar Thapa, the suspended Mayor of Bagmati Municipality in Sarlahi district, has been charged with another Rs 300 million corruption case.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against Thapa and five others at the Special Court on Tuesday.

The CIAA alleges that Thapa was involved in corruption amounting to Rs 302.9 million during the construction of a lake in Bagmati Municipality Wards 4 and 12.

Earlier, the commission had filed a Rs 53.3 million corruption case against Thapa on Chaitra 18, accusing him of illegally amassing the amount.
