KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane did not hold back as he bombarded Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha with a series of probing questions at a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Singha Durbar on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Shrestha, tasked with responding to queries from Committee members, found himself under intense scrutiny from Lamichhane.

Former Home Minister Lamichhane, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), directed his questions towards the failure to apprehend individuals involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, specifically mentioning the sons of CPN-UML Vice Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal and security expert, Indrajit Rai.

Lamichhane pressed Shrestha for updates on the status of Badal’s son Prateek and Rai’s son Niraj, both of whom were allegedly connected to the fraudulent refugee case.

Lamichhane sought answers on the whereabouts of Nainakala Thapa, wife of Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, implicating her in the same scandal.

He did not stop there, also inquiring about CG Director Arun Chaudhary, who had previously been arrested in connection with the embezzlement of land in the Bansbari Leather Shoe Industry.

In the midst of the questioning, Lamichhane aimed to corner Home Minister Shrestha on various fronts, reminiscent of previous heated exchanges between the two during parliamentary committee sessions.

Lamichhane’s relentless pursuit of answers continued as he sought accountability from the Home Minister on multiple unresolved cases and individuals implicated in alleged wrongdoings.
