Remittances soar to over 6 trillion 13 billion in last five months



KATHMANDU: The current fiscal year has witnessed an impressive influx of remittances, totaling a staggering Rs 6 trillion 13 billion 25 crores within the first five months.

According to data released today by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the remittance inflow has surged by 27.6 percent by the end of December, showcasing a substantial increase compared to the same period in the previous year when the growth rate stood at 23 percent.

The remittance inflow in US dollars has notably increased by 24.5 percent, reaching 4.62 billion.

This marks a significant rise from the previous year’s 13.1 percent growth in such inflows.

In the review period, one lakh 73 thousand 555 Nepalese acquired the final work permit for foreign employment, encompassing both institutional and individual permits.

Additionally, one lakh four thousand 37 individuals obtained renewed labor permits.

In comparison, the corresponding figures for the previous year were 236,779 and 15,948, respectively.

The net transfer during this review period has surged by 26.3 percent, totaling Rs. Rs 6 trillion 69.74 billion.

This growth rate surpasses the 21.6 percent increase recorded in the same period of the previous year.
