Political activities barred inside school premises

TAPLEJUNG: The Sirijungha Rural Municipality in the district has banned political activities within the school premises.

The rural municipality has decided to implement the Declaration of Schools as Zone of Peace National Framework Implementation Guidelines 2068 strictly because the political activities that affect the educational sector have not stopped.

Accordingly, formation of political parties or party-affiliated organizations, meetings, seminars, meetings, and conferences within the school premises or using school property for political activities has been banned.

The rural municipality had outlined the same with clear provisions in its policy and program of the fiscal year 2080-081 BS.

As provided in the schools as zone of peace framework, the rural municipality issued a notice stating that any political groups trying to influence the school, students, teachers, staff, school management committee with threat, fear, school closure, using force, and extortion will face the consequences as per the law.

The rural municipality has also requested the schools, political parties, party-related organizations and educational professionals associations to strictly implement the decision of the municipal executive to make the school premises peaceful and child-friendly.
