KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks bowler William Bosisto created a new record in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by taking six wickets in a single match, the highest in the tournament so far.

In the 17th match of the league on Tuesday, Bosisto achieved the milestone after Karnali was invited to field first.

His six-wicket haul surpassed the previous record of five wickets held by three players: Sohail Tanvir of Chitwan Rhinos, Naren Saud of Sudurpaschim Royals, and Harsh Thaker of Janakpur Bolts.

Sohail Tanvir had earlier taken five wickets against Kathmandu Gurkhas in Chitwan’s second match.

Naren Saud matched this record in the ninth match, also against Kathmandu. Harsh Thaker equaled the record in the 14th match against Lumbini Lions.

Bosisto, however, broke all these records in the 17th match, establishing himself as the top bowler in the league.

Bosisto joined Karnali Yaks later in the tournament. While Karnali played their first match against Janakpur on December 2, he arrived in Nepal only on December 4.

His first match was against Chitwan Rhinos, where he bowled two overs and gave away 17 runs without taking a wicket.

In his second match against Biratnagar Kings, he opened his wicket tally by dismissing Naren Bhatt LBW.

His record-breaking performance came in his third match, where he dismissed Kushal Bhurtel, Matthew Critchley, Dilip Nath, Michael Leask, Narayan Joshi, and Raymon Reifer.

Bosisto’s six wickets in a single match now stand as the best bowling performance in the league, solidifying his impactful contribution to Karnali Yaks and placing him at the top of the NPL bowling charts.
