KATHMANDU: Record mountaineer Dawa Yangjum Sherpa has made history as the first Nepali woman to successfully summit all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in the world.

The 33-year-old climber from Dolakha achieved this remarkable feat by reaching the summit of Shishapangma (8,027 meters) in Tibet at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Dawa first conquered Mount Everest at the age of 22 and has since summited the world’s highest peak four times.

Angchiring Sherpa, former President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, stated that Dawa’s achievement will inspire greater participation of women in mountaineering.
