Fulpati: Seventh day of Dashain being observed today

KATHMANDU: Fulpati is being brought into homes across the country today in observance of the Bada Dashain festival.

Fulpati, an assortment of auspicious flowers, leaves, and fruits, is anointed at the Dashain Ghar on the seventh day of this celebration.

The Fulpati is transported to Kathmandu following Vedic rites to be consecrated at the Dashain Ghar in Hanumandhoka Durbar.

The procession features the Gurujyuko platoon of the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police, and high-ranking officials from the Armed Police and civil service, alongside the Asha Gurja team, band music, Panchebaja, and decorated kalsyoulis.

They depart from Jamal for Hanuman Dhoka, carrying the Fulpati.

According to the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti (Nepal Calendar Determination Committee), there is no specific auspicious hour required for bringing Fulpati into homes.

Although the Dashain festival officially begins with Ghatasthapana, the festivities gain momentum starting on the day of Fulpati.

As the celebrations commence, all government and private offices close, encouraging people to return to their ancestral homes to seek blessings from Durga Bhawani and their elders.
