NC and UML push to remove Deputy Speaker; RSP terms it ‘vicious political tactic’
The ruling political parties, particularly the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, are advancing efforts to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar from her position.
Citing Article 91 of the Constitution, the ruling coalition plans to present a resolution in the House of Representatives to remove Deputy Speaker Rana, alleging that she has not fulfilled the duties expected of her role.
Article 91, sub-section (6)(c) of the Constitution stipulates that if a resolution to remove the Speaker or Deputy Speaker is passed by a two-thirds majority of the total members of the House, the individual in question shall be removed from office.
Rabi Lamichhane meets PM Oli amid Deputy Speaker removal efforts
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane reached the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday evening to discuss the ruling coalition’s ongoing efforts to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar.
Ranamagar, a Member of Parliament from the RSP, is facing removal due to a signature campaign initiated by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML to unseat her.
Prachanda stresses public support to defend Constitution
Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, has emphasized the crucial role of public support and vigilance in defending and implementing the Constitution.
Speaking at a pgoram in Siraha on Tuesday, Prachanda stated that it is the responsibility of the people to continuously advocate for the protection and implementation of the constitution that emerged from their struggle.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Siraha for electing him as their representative in the 2070 BS elections, which allowed him to contribute to the creation and implementation of the Constitution.
Cooperative victims wave black flags against Rabi Lamichhane in Pokhara
Victims of a cooperative in Pokhara staged a protest against Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), on Tuesday afternoon.
Lamichhane, also a former Home Minister, faced a hostile reception upon his arrival in Pokhara for a party event.
As Lamichhane arrived at the Galaxy Banquet in Biruta, Pokhara, for a state-level program hosted by RSP, he was met with black flags and vocal protests from the cooperative victims.
Dhanraj Gurung denies involvement in co-operative fraud linked to ex-wife
Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Dhanraj Gurung has disassociated himself from the co-operative fraud case involving his ex-wife, Jyoti Gurung.
In a statement made during a House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Gurung demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations against him.
He contended that since he and Jyoti divorced in 2020, it would be unjust to implicate him in this case.

Gold and silver prices rise in domestic market
The price of gold has increased in the Nepalese market.
Today, the price of gold per tola rose by Rs 200. On Monday, fine gold was traded at 152,200 rupees per tola, but it is now being traded at 152,400 rupees.
According to the Gold and Silver Traders Federation, the price of silver per tola has risen by 10 rupees, reaching 1,765 rupees.
NC Vice President Gurung denies allegations of cooperative embezzlement
Dhanraj Gurung, the Vice President of the Nepali Congress (NC), has refuted allegations of cheating or embezzling funds from cooperatives.
In response to recent media reports, Gurung issued a statement, addressing the misleading nature of the news.
He urged the public, his supporters, and friends both within Nepal and abroad not to believe the “unrestrained, untrue, misleading, and fabricated” reports. Gurung clarified that his name should not be associated with these allegations.
Sahid Gangalal Hospital to provide free health check up to national players
The Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre (SGNHC) will provide health check-up services to the national players free of cost.
An agreement was signed to conduct free health check including the cardiac tests of all players annually contributing in international games representing the nation.
At a program organized here today, the National Sports Council and Centre signed the agreement to this effect in presence of Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, and Minister for Youth and Sports, Teju Lal Chaudhary.
