Nagarik Unmukti withdraws support from Dahal govt

KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has withdrawn its support for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

In a parliamentary party meeting held on Wednesday, the NUP decided to withdraw its support and not to vote for the government’s confidence motion.

This decision follows the removal of Ranjita Shrestha as the party leader and the appointment of Arun Chaudhary as the new parliamentary party leader.

Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence in parliament on Friday, July 12.

Previously, under the leadership of Ranjita Shrestha, the NUP had supported Dahal’s government.

However, following Shrestha’s removal, the party decided to retract its support.

Present in the NUP meeting included Ganga Chaudhary, Lalbir Chaudhary, and Arun Chaudhary.

Leader Shrestha was absent from the meeting.

The NUP has four members in the federal parliament.
