Rescue drill at TIA conducted in full swing (In Photos)

KATHMANDU: Security forces conducted an emergency rescue drill at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday, aligning with international standards and regulations.

For a half-hour period on Monday afternoon, both flights and landings were halted at Tribhuvan International Airport from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.

Under the airport’s emergency plan, various agencies involved in aviation, security, medical services, and rescue participated in the exercise, which aimed to simulate a crisis scenario.

The exercise, including a simulation of an aircraft crash (Alert 9.31), was executed to bolster cooperation among the responding agencies.

Smoke, mimicking the aftermath of a plane crash, enveloped the airport area during the drill, while fire brigades, security personnel, ambulances, and other rescue teams demonstrated their preparedness and coordination.
