Three killed in Rukum West jeep accident

SURKHET: Three people died and three others were injured when a jeep met with an accident in Nepane, located in Musikot Municipality-1 of Rukum West last night.

The accident occurred when the vehicle, with the registration number Karnali Province 2001 Ch 0413, was heading toward Chinkhet in Banfikot Rural Municipality-4 from Musikot-1 Khalanga.

The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Saugat BK from Thakurbaba Municipality-5 Kaligaudi, Bardiya; the driver, 30-year-old Dharmendra Shrestha from Gurvakot Municipality-8 Mehalkuna, Surkhet; and 19-year-old Jit Bahadur Karki from Barahtal Rural Municipality-5 Baddichaur, Surkhet.

According to District Police Office Inspector and spokesperson Bakhat Shahi, the victims were rescued from the scene and brought to the district hospital, where they died during treatment.

The injured are 17-year-old Sujal BK, 26-year-old Dilip Thapa, and 27-year-old Tikaram Khanal.

BK and Khanal are in serious condition and have been referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment after receiving initial care at their district hospital.

Thapa is currently being treated at the district hospital.

The vehicle fell about 200 meters below the road.
