Parliament session postponed till May 14 amid opposition obstruction

KATHMANDU: The budget session of the parliament has been postponed until May 14, in response to obstruction from opposition parties.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire made the decision amidst the ongoing deadlock.

The next session is scheduled for 6 PM on May 14.

The obstruction stems from the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, along with other opposition factions, vowing to continue obstructing parliamentary proceedings until a committee is formed to investigate the cooperative fraud case.

The Nepali Congress has persistently called for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to probe the case, suspecting the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
