NC to allow Home Minister Lamichhane to speak in Parliament

KATHMANDU: Main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has decided to allow Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to address Parliament.

During the NC’s Parliamentary Party meeting convened on Friday morning, it was decided to allow Lamichhane to speak during the upcoming budget session commencing today.

In the preceding session, the Nepali Congress had staged a protest in Parliament, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate Home Minister Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in misappropriating cooperative funds.

The annual budget session of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly (NA) is commencing today.

The budget session is commencing today after President Ram Chandra Paudel, in accordance with the Article 93 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, summoned the joint session of the federal parliament on May 2 on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has issued a public notice to all Members of Parliament (MPs) to meet at 2 pm on Friday at the Parliament Building, New Baneswor.
