ACC Women’s Premier Cup: Nepal defeats Hong Kong

KATHMANDU: Nepal showcased a commanding performance in their opening match of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, securing an emphatic 8-wicket victory against Hong Kong.

The match, held today at the Selangor Turf Club in Malaysia as part of the group stage, saw Nepal effortlessly chase down the 94-run target set by Hong Kong in just 14 overs.

Captain Indu Berma led the charge for Nepal, contributing the highest score of 40 runs, while Sita Rana Magar added a valuable 36 runs to the total.

For Hong Kong, Ikra Sahar and Chan Ka Ying Carey managed to take one wicket each.

In the initial innings, Hong Kong, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, posted a total of 93 runs for the loss of 8 wickets within the stipulated 20 overs.

Captain Chan Ka Ying Carey top-scored with 21 runs, supported by Maryam Bibi (18 runs), Yasmin Daswani (15 runs), and Natasha Miles (11 runs).

Nepal’s Rubina Chhetri and Puja Mahato claimed two wickets each, while Sita Rana Magar took one.

With 16 teams participating in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, divided into 4 groups, the tournament serves as a gateway to the ACC Women’s Asia Cup for the finalists and the Emerging Asia Cup for the semi-finalists.

Group ‘D,’ which includes Nepal, also features Hong Kong, Maldives, and Bhutan.
