KATHMANDU: The number of electric vehicles (EVs) in Nepal is rapidly increasing, and with this surge, charging stations have been established across various locations.

As the festival of Dashain approaches, many citizens are traveling from Kathmandu and other major cities to celebrate, resulting in a significant rise in EV usage.

In response, numerous charging points have been installed along important roads and highways throughout the country.

The government has set up charging stations at 51 different locations to promote the use of EVs.

These charging points are conveniently located on major highways and in cities, allowing travelers to charge their EVs whether they’re embarking on short or long journeys.

The Nepal Electricity Authority has invested in building charging stations across the nation, including: 2 in Dharke, Dhading; 1 in Mugling, Chitwan; 2 at Sajha Services, Balkhu, Kathmandu; 2 at Sajha Services, Pulchok, Lalitpur; 1 at Nepal Electricity Authority, Ratnapark, Kathmandu; 1 at Nepal Police Club, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

Additional stations in Chitwan, Sindhuli, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Sunsari, and various other locations.

To accommodate the increasing demand during Dashain, more charging stations are being set up across the country, ensuring that EV owners can easily charge their vehicles on their journeys.

Likewise, other stations include: 2 in Paras Bus Park, Chitwan; 2 in Khurkot, Sindhuli; 1 in Sindhuli Bus Park, Sindhuli; 2 at Bardibas Mahottari Office (Area Police); 2 at Hariban, Sarlahi; 1 at Inaruwa Bus Park, Sunsari; 2 at Police Petrol Pump, Lahan, Siraha; and 2 at Kalika Fuel Center, Pokhara.

Charging stations have also been established in bus parks and strategic areas to facilitate travel for festival-goers.

The private sector is also contributing to this effort, installing additional charging points in major cities.

Hyundai, Tata, and BYD vehicles are supported at these stations. Hyundai has already set up charging points at various locations, including: LI Auto Service, Kupandol; Labim Mall, Pulchok; Pokhara Grand Hotel, and others.

Similarly, MG has installed seven-kilowatt AC chargers in key areas like Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Birgunj, and Biratnagar, while Tata Motors has established over 14 charging points throughout the country.

Additionally, BWD has installed fast charging stations in Anamnagar, Gaurighat, and Kohalpur, with Cymex Inc. reporting a network of 25 charging locations equipped with 40 kW chargers.

To accommodate the increasing demand during Dashain, more charging stations are being set up across the country, ensuring that EV owners can easily charge their vehicles on their journeys.
