Ashok Raj Sigdel takes command of Nepali Army



KATHMANDU: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel officially assumed command of the Nepali Army today.

President Ram Chandra Paudel, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, bestowed the insignia upon Sigdel. Subsequently, Sigdel began his duties at the Nepali Army Headquarters.

Sigdel is the 45th Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army.

Following the retirement of the previous Chief of Army Staff, Prabhu Ram Sharma, Sigdel was appointed to the position.

President Paudel’s appointment of Sigdel on August 28 became effective today, September 9.

Sharma, who has dedicated four decades to the Nepali Army, has been on leave since August 8.
