KATHMANDU: The Dr. CK Raut-led Janamat Party has demanded an explanation from Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh regarding his “Jumbo Cabinet.”

The Janamat Party raised concerns after CM Singh expanded his cabinet to nearly double the necessary number of ministers.

Dr. Sharad Singh Yadav, the party’s spokesperson, confirmed that a formal clarification has been sought from CM Singh.

On Tuesday, CM Singh expanded his cabinet to 20 members by appointing five new State Ministers.

The size of CM Singh’s Cabinet now nearly mirrors that of the central government, raising questions and controversies.

This Cabinet is the largest of its kind at the provincial level since the introduction of federalism in Nepal, despite the province having only 12 ministries.

Of these, the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML lead four each, while the Janamat Party oversees three ministries, including the Chief Minister’s position.

The remaining ministry is headed by the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party.
