KATHMANDU: The victims of the Nirmala Kurmi murder case have reignited their protest, demanding justice and condemning the appointment of Badshah Kurmi as a Minister in the Lumbini Province government.
The protesters, including relatives of the victim and women’s rights activists, accuse the ruling alliance of appointing Kurmi to protect him from the ongoing investigation.
Nirmala Kurmi, a resident of Nepalgunj-17, Paraspur Banke, went missing in April last year and was later found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Her land was fraudulently transferred during her disappearance, further raising suspicions.
The victim’s relatives filed a First Information Report (FIR) against eight suspects on April 2, 2021.
However, they allege that the investigation has been intentionally delayed by the authorities.
The renewed protests, marking the fifth phase of their campaign, include three key demands aimed at ensuring justice for Kurmi.
The demonstrators are pressing the government to take immediate and transparent action against the accused and ensure that justice is served.
