Karnali CM calls for planting useful plants



KARNALI: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, has urged one and all to grow plants that are useful for humans.

In his address to a tree transplantation programme organised by the Mid-West University at Birendranagar of Surkhet today, the Minister said the afforestation of plants with medicinal importance, fruits, and those useful for humans should be promoted.

“Such practice will contribute to enhancing environmental beauty and health, and achieving sustainable development.”

On the occasion, he announced that the province government is to launch a campaign titled ‘Green Karnali for Human Health System’.

He hoped for support and cooperation from all quarters to make the campaign productive.

As he said, afforestation is mandatory to minimize the impact of climate change and conserve the environment and wildlife.

University teacher Tej Bikram Basnet said plants of apple, pomegranate, mango, guava, lemon, litchi, avocado, grapes, Ashoka, jack fruit, Banyan, Rudraksha, bamboo, and broom grass were planted on the occasion.
