Policy and program of Kathmandu Metropolitan City approved



KATHMANDU: The policy and program of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the upcoming fiscal year 2081-82 has been approved on Tuesday.

According to the secretariat of Mayor Balendra Shah ‘Balen’ The fifth municipal assembly meeting held today passed the policy and program of the metropolis.

Previously, ward chairpersons had expressed dissatisfaction, accusing Mayor Shah of unilaterally proposing the budget.

Following this, they registered a 28-point amendment proposal to the presented policy and program.

The amendment received unanimous support from all 161 municipal assembly members.

Mayor Shah announced that the policy and program had been approved with amendments by the municipal assembly today.

However, the ward chairpersons have not yet commented on the approval.

Currently, discussions on the budget for the fiscal year 2081-82 are ongoing in the municipal assembly.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Shah was elected as an independent candidate.

Despite working energetically, Mayor Shah has often lacked the support of most elected representatives from major parties including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
