Bagmati Province reports 38.92% budget expenditure

KATHMANDU: The Bagmati Province government has reported a budget expenditure of 38.92% as of the current fiscal year 2080-81 BS (2023-24).

The provincial government’s expenditure in the eleventh hour of the fiscal year has been recorded relatively low.

According to the Province Treasury Comptroller Office in Hetauda, the government’s expenditure in the past 10 months of the current fiscal stands at Rs. 24,407 million.

During this period, Rs. 11,415 million has been allocated towards current expenditure, while approximately Rs. 12,992 million has been directed towards capital expenditure, as informed by Office Chief Hari Prasad Upadhayay.

The highest spending has been directed towards physical infrastructure development, totaling Rs. 8,698 million, followed by Rs. 2,860 million allocated for drinking water, energy, and irrigation sectors. Additionally, the Social Development Ministry’s expenditure amounts to Rs. 1,860 million.

Expenditures for the Forest and Environment Ministry total Rs. 1,230 million, followed by Rs. 810 million for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Rs. 633 million for the Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Cooperatives, Rs. 196 million for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Rs. 174 million for the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers, and Rs. 95 million for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning.

The Province Assembly Secretariat has spent Rs. 145 million during this period.

The province government had allocated Rs. 26,421 million for current expenditure, Rs. 35,787 million for capital expenditure, and Rs. 500 million for financial management in the current fiscal year.
