Govt directs NEA to resolve power supply disruptions for industries



KATHMANDU: A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, instructed Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to resolve power supply disruptions for industries affected by the trunk and dedicated lines’ tariff controversies.

During the meeting chaired at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced the formation of a three-member committee led by former Justice Girish Chandra Lal.

The Committee, along with the Secretaries from the Ministries of Industry and Energy, will probe the disputes surrounding trunk and dedicated line tariffs.

Additionally, the meeting acknowledged the resignation of the Telecommunications Authority (NTA) Chairman and established a committee, overseen by the Ministry of Communications’ Secretary, to nominate a successor. Navaraj Adhikari has been appointed as the interim NTA Chairman.

Furthermore, the Cabinet Meeting decided to appoint 25 members from diverse District Coordination Committees, local authorities, and various officials to the National Development Council.
