Minister Yadav insists on citizens’ access to drinking water

KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supplies, Pradip Yadav, has said safe water supplies and sanitation are bases for citizen’s health, education and economic prosperity.

In his address to the sixth AGM of National Federation Small Town Drinking Water and Sanitation Users here on Sunday, the Minister highlighted the interconnection of drinking water and sanitation to the country’s socio-economic development.

“The supplies of safe drinking water and sanitation practices create a foundation of citizens’ better health, education and economic prosperity,” he said, praising the role of the Federation in improving citizens’ access to quality drinking water.

Underlining the need of implementing a water recharge system in the Chure region, the Minister said research will be vital for the same.

“Preparations are on to develop a working procedure for giving a discount in the electricity tariff, he expressed his hope that the effective implementation of the Water Supply and Sanitation, Act, 2022 would support to improve the status of citizens significantly.
