Maoist Chairman Dahal stresses need for greater recognition of citizens’ sacrifices

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the Maoist Centre, has called on party leaders and members to actively work towards safeguarding citizens’ rights.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Dahal emphasized the need to honor the sacrifices made by the people for societal transformation and to advance their rights.

Dahal pointed out that the ‘people’s war’ initiated by the party for national change is officially referred to as ‘armed conflict’ in the Constitution, though it is recognized as a ‘people’s war’ in its descriptive note.

He noted that the federal democratic republic has yet to fully acknowledge the sacrifices made for these transformations.

He stated, “Proper tribute to the martyrs can only be paid by resolving the issues concerning the nation and its citizens.”
