Reversing proportional and inclusive rights unacceptable: Prachanda
Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has asserted that the Constitution cannot be amended by reversing proportional and inclusive rights.
Speaking to media at the Biratnagar Airport on Sunday, Prachanda, also a former Prime Minister, emphasized that while he is not opposed to constitutional amendments, they cannot be achieved by diminishing these rights.
He warned that any attempt to alter the Constitution by undermining the proportional and inclusive system in the National Assembly would face strong opposition.
Quality and life skills education government’s priority: PM Oli
Prime Minister KP Oli has said that quality and life skills education is priority of the present government, while ensuring the fundamental right to education.
In a message today on the occasion of the 58th International Literacy Day, he said that the priority of the government is to provide quality education to all school-going-age children and opportunities for life skills education for citizens above school age.
According to UNESCO, the International Literacy Day is observed on 8 September every year since 1967, to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.
Couple buried in Surkhet landslide; daughter rescued
Prem Kumari, a ward member of Barekot Rural Municipality-6, and her husband, Man Bahadur Chalune, were buried in a landslide that occurred early this morning in Dhuma, Barekot Rural Municipality.
The couple’s 11-year-old daughter was rescued with injuries and has been transported to the local hospital in Limsa for treatment.
One dies of diarrhea in Nepalgunj
A person has died due to diarrhea in Janaki Rural Municipality.
Thirty-four-year-old Holi Teli of Belhari in ward no. 5 of the Municipality has died, according to Health Office Information Officer, Naresh Shrestha.
As Cholera germs were not found in the test his death may have been due to failure to drink a lot of fluids including water and not receiving timely treatment, Shrestha said.
Gold prices decrease in domestic market
On the first trading day of the week, Sunday, gold prices decreased in the Nepalese market.
Today, the price of gold fell by 1,200 rupees to 152,100 rupees per tola, according to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation.
On Friday, gold was traded at a peak price of 153,300 rupees per tola.
In addition, the price of silver dropped by 45 rupees to 1,750 rupees per tola, as reported by the Federation.
Chilime-Trishuli transmission line construction reaches final stage
The Chilime-Trishuli 220 KV transmission line, designed to transmit electricity from hydroelectric projects on the Trishuli River and its tributaries to the national grid, is now in its final stage of construction.
The last phase involves completing the 28 km transmission line from the Chilime Hub Substation in Thambuchet, Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, to the Trishuli 3B Hub Substation in Pahrebensi, Kispang Rural Municipality of Nuwakot.
