PM trying to seek constitutional loopholes: Thakur Gaire

KATHMANDU: Thakur Gaire, a Member of Parliament from CPN-UML, criticized Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, stating that despite being in the minority, he is actively searching for constitutional loopholes.

Gaire made these remarks during a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, urging the Prime Minister to facilitate the formation of a new government.

He accused the Prime Minister of attempting to exploit constitutional ambiguities to obstruct the formation of a new government.

Gaire further asserted that the Prime Minister’s actions are aimed at sowing instability and division within the country.

He emphasized that once a government loses its majority, it lacks the moral authority to cling to power even for a moment, urging the Prime Minister to refrain from manipulating constitutional provisions.

UML lawmaker Gaire called for the Prime Minister’s immediate resignation to facilitate the formation of a new government following the opposition’s attainment of a two-thirds majority.

He suggested that instead of clinging to power despite being in the minority, the government should step down.
