Heavy rains cause widespread flooding in Kanchanpur

1,622 people evacuated to safety



KANCHANPUR: Most of Kanchanpur is submerged following continuous heavy rains, with 620.4 mm recorded in the past 24 hours, marking the highest rainfall ever.

Hanumannagar in Kanchanpur received 570 mm during the same period.

According to Umesh Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, 1,622 individuals from 466 households affected by flooding have been relocated to safe locations.

Affected households in Dodhara Chandani Municipality, Bhimdatta Municipality, and other parts of the district have been evacuated to schools and the homes of relatives.

DSP Joshi noted ongoing flooding in settlements due to the relentless downpour.

Meanwhile, a child from Krishnapur lost his life after his home was flooded.

Seven-month-old Solu Dhanuk from Motipur, Krishnapur Municipality-1, died when water inundated his house while he was sleeping in a cradle indoors.
