JSP Convention: Participants announced

Leaders from Azerbaijan to Spain among those attending the event

KATHMANDU: The Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is holding its first national convention from June 10.

“The party is organizing its first national convention on June 10 and is expecting as many as 20,000 participants in its inaugural session,” said Manish Suman, the party’s spokesperson.

“We are expecting both national and foreign leaders, as well as party cadres, to attend the session. We have also invited leaders from other parties,” added Suman.

According to Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the party, leaders from key political parties and countries such as India, Malaysia, Spain, Azerbaijan, and Indonesia will be attending the event. Guests from these countries are scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu today.

Among the foreign leaders attending the event are Nur Rahim Bin Nisar from the Democratic Action Party of Malaysia, Dr. Sunilam from the Bharatiya Samajbadi Party, the International Coordinator of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, Manish Singh, spokesperson of the Socialist Party of India, Alok Meheta, spokesperson of the Rastriya Janata Dal, BR Patil, Congress leader of India, and Udit Raj, spokesperson of the same party.

Additionally, a lawmaker from Azerbaijan and representatives of the Progressive Alliance and Social Democratic Alliance will be present at the event.

Domestically, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal and Secretary General of Nepal Communist Party Netra Bikram Chand have confirmed their participation in the convention, according to Suman.

The party has also extended invitations to KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Rabi Lamichhane, and CK Raut, among other leaders.

These leaders have yet to announce their decision on attending the event.

However, the party has excluded the splinter faction led by Ashok Rai from the event.

“They are not part of our party anymore,” said Suman.

The party will elect its central committee members on June 12.
