KATHMANDU: Ramesh Lekhak, the Chief Whip of Nepali Congress’s parliamentary party, has denied any ongoing discussions between his party and the CPN-UML regarding the formation of a new government.

Addressing reporters during a press conference on Wednesday, Lekhak dismissed the reports of negotiations between the two political entities.

“Despite speculations, there have been no formal talks between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML regarding the formation of a new government,” Lekhak clarified.

He further commented on the growing calls for larger parties to take charge amidst the instability witnessed under the coalition government comprising several smaller parties.

“However, there have been murmurs urging major parties to assume leadership in the government, especially in light of the recent instability under the multi-party coalition,” Lekhak remarked.

Additionally, Lekhak emphasized that Nepali Congress has no intention of disrupting the current ruling coalition.

The statement from Nepali Congress comes amidst heightened political speculations and maneuvering within Nepal’s political landscape.
