KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken significant steps by filing cases against 249 individuals on charges of encroaching upon government-owned land in Tikapur.

After an extensive investigation, the CIAA lodged the case at the Special Court in Kathmandu, marking a significant development in addressing land-related malpractices.

The accused individuals, including the former Chairman of Tikapur Municipality Development Committee, committee members, and other officials, stand accused of orchestrating fraudulent activities.

Allegations suggest the fabrication of receipts and other documents to unlawfully transfer land ownership to their relatives.

Among those implicated in the case are the then Chairman of the Committee, Netra Prasad Joshi, Lalita Tamrakar, Dhiraj Regmi, and 27 others, allegedly involved in the encroachment of government land.

Additionally, the owners of the disputed land are also among those facing legal action, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the investigation undertaken by the CIAA.
