TAPLEJUNG: The sale of old bells collected in Pathibhara temple has been postponed.

The Pathibhara Area Development Committee decided to withheld the bell auction after receiving various comments regarding the action to sell the bells offered by pilgrims visiting the religious Hindu site.

Executive Director of the committee, Prajin Hangwang, said that the decision to stop the auction of the bells was made based on suggestions received from devotees, intellectuals, stakeholders and the community.

Although the auction process has been postponed for the moment the committee has said that further decision will be taken in the next meeting.

On November 29, the Committee had put out a public notice for the sale of the old bells by auction.

The Committee plans to sell 16,378 kilos of old bells offered by devotees to Pathibhara.

It has set a minimum price of Rs.380 per kilo. The committee postponed the auction of old bells after receiving various criticisms especially on the social media and networking sites.
