KATHMANDU: Dr. Arzu Rana, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has instructed Nepalese embassies in Israel and Lebanon to closely monitor the safety of Nepalis in those countries amid growing concerns.

During virtual meetings with the Nepali ambassadors in both nations, she gathered updates on the current situation.

Dr. Rana emphasized the importance of maintaining communication with Nepalis residing there and called for effective support and assistance.

“Ensure you contact all Nepalis in those areas. Coordinate efforts for those seeking to return home and prepare for any potential rescue or repatriation initiatives,” she directed.

Additionally, Minister Rana ordered the embassies to issue official notices for the appointment of contact persons and the establishment of help desks to facilitate any rescue and repatriation operations.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Egypt, Sushil Lamsal, stated that the safety of Nepalis in Lebanon is confirmed, with approximately 1,200 individuals, mostly domestic workers, currently in the country.

He noted that only three Nepali citizens have made contact, all of whom are safe in Beirut, and no other issues have been reported.

In Israel, Charge d’Affaires Kumar Shrestha stated that the situation remains stable, with around 4,500 Nepalis there also reported safe.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, provided updates on the situation in Iran.
