KATHMANDU: Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has highlighted the significant role of the Newa community in Nepal’s history.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 12-year Rudrayani Mela, Prachanda praised the Newa community’s contributions to the 10-year ‘people’s war’ and the 19-day people’s movement, describing them as unforgettable.
He emphasized that the Newa community has not only been pivotal in the fields of economic development, social harmony, and cultural preservation but has also played a crucial role in the country’s political transformation.
Prachanda noted that these contributions have helped secure the rights of various communities—including castes, regions, genders, and linguistic groups—through the Constitution.
He also underscored the importance of fulfilling the people’s dream of socialism through effective governance, social justice, and prosperity.
