Yogesh Bhattarai urges RSP not to support PM Dahal’s ‘sinking ship’

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has urged the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) not to support Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Speaking during a special session at the House of Representatives on Sunday, Bhattarai likened supporting Prime Minister Dahal to boarding a sinking ship.

He advised RSP against backing Dahal, suggesting that doing so could harm their party.

Bhattarai emphasized that even with the decision of the two largest parties in parliament to cooperate, it would not be suitable for Dahal to extend his stay until July 12.

He suggested that rather than seeking a vote of confidence, Dahal should resign.

He pointed out that while Dahal had received 268 votes of confidence initially, the numbers dwindled to 172, and subsequently to 157.

Bhattarai argued that seeking another vote of confidence at this point would be meaningless as the largest party in the Parliament Nepali Congress and the second largest party UML have formed an alliance for the new government.
