Landslides and floods disrupt 25 highways; 98 roads being operated one-way



KATHMANDU: Landslides and floods have disrupted 25 highways across the country.

According to the Department of Roads, out of 199 highways and roads, 25 have been affected by floods and landslides.

Additionally, 98 highways are currently operating one way only.

The rain-triggered disasters have disrupted sections of major highways, including the Koshi Highway, Dumre-Besisahar-Chame road section, Araniko Highway, Siddhartha Highway, Karnali Highway, Kantipath Highway, Mid-Hill Highway, and Tansen-Redi-Korala Highway.

Furthermore, 203 minor and major road sections have also been affected by incessant rainfall since Friday.

A valley bridge and four RCC bridges have also suffered destruction.

According to the Department, road disruptions have caused a loss of around Rs 100 million, while the destruction of the bridges is estimated at Rs 260 million.
