SUNSARI: Itahari is set to become a vibrant hub of travel enthusiasts as it kickstarts a three-day ‘Eastern Travel Mart’ from today.

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) spearheads this initiative aimed at invigorating the tourism industry in the Koshi Province.

Running until June 9, the event promises to showcase the region’s diverse attractions.

Mart Secretary Basudev Baral anticipates a diverse influx of visitors, including those from Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim of India, as well as from Bhutan, Bangladesh, and beyond.

Event coordinator Bhabish Kumar Shrestha reveals that over 80 travel entrepreneurs, both domestic and international, will actively participate in the Mart.

To ensure the success of this endeavor, the NTB has allocated Rs. three million, while the Itahari Submetropolis has pledged Rs. 600 thousand in support.

Attendees can look forward to guided tours of various tourist hotspots within the province, complemented by engaging local cultural demonstrations and tantalizing food stalls.

The prestigious Soaltee Westend Hotel in Itahari is the chosen venue, promising a sophisticated setting for networking and exchange.

The event’s grand inauguration, slated to be officiated by Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki of the Koshi Province, will culminate in a formal session at Hotel Mechi Crown in Kakarvitta, Jhapa.
