Speaker Ghimire calls meeting of top leaders

KATHMANDU: Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has called for a meeting involving key leaders from major political parties, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, scheduled for 11 am at Singha Durbar, today.

The primary objective of this meeting is to foster a consensus among political stakeholders concerning the investigation into the cooperative fraud case, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming budget session of parliament.

Expected attendees include Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden.

Notably, the Nepali Congress, as the main opposition party, has been advocating for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to delve into the cooperative fraud case, which also implicates Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane among its suspects.

Consequently, the party has been impeding parliamentary proceedings.

Prime Minister Dahal has been actively engaged in seeking a collaborative resolution to this issue among the prominent political entities.
