Machchhindra Football Club clinches the title of 8th edition of the Birat Gold Cup

KATHMANDU: The final saw Machchhindra Football Club clinch the title after defeating Shangri-La Football Club with a scoreline of 2-0.

Despite the full 90 minutes passing without any goals, Machchhindra Club’s strikers proved decisive in extra time, with Tshiring Gurung and Yusup Thapaliya each netting a goal in the 113th and 119th minutes respectively.

The triumph earned Machchhindra Football Club a prize of Rs 1.1 million, while Shangri-La Football Club received Rs 550,000 as the runner-up.

Laken Limbu of Machchhindra Club was awarded the Player of the Match title, while Mahendra Karki of Shangri-La Club was honored as the best player of the tournament.

Other notable accolades include Bishal Shrestha of Machchhindra Club being named the best goalkeeper, Santosh Neupane of Machchhindra Club as the best coach, and Stephen Winong of Machchhindra Club as the highest scorer, each receiving Rs 21,000.

The tournament featured a total of 10 teams, including representatives from India and Bhutan.
