CHITWAN: Renu Dahal, the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, currently in London for a program, held discussions with Nigel Evans, the Deputy-Speaker of the UK House of Commons, on Thursday.
The meeting covered various topics, including Nepal-UK relations and the welfare of Gurkha soldiers serving in the British Army.
Both parties also explored the historical ties between the two nations and their people.
Mayor Dahal extended an invitation to Deputy-Speaker Nigel to visit Nepal and participate in ‘Visit Bharatpur Year 2024’, an initiative observed by Bharatpur Metropolitan City throughout the year.
Post-meeting, Mayor Dahal gained insights into the history of the British Parliament, observed parliamentary activities, and toured the parliament building.
