Arun Chaudhary set to be released amid controversy

KATHMANDU: Arun Chaudhary, the brother of billionaire and Member of Parliament Binod Chaudhary, is expected to be released today following his earlier arrest in connection with the Bansbari-based Leather Shoe Factory land scandal.

Initially detained by the police, Chaudhary’s release comes amidst speculation and controversy surrounding the case.

Reports suggest that the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is facing significant pressure to secure his release.

Earlier, the Kathmandu District Court had granted permission to remand Chaudhary in custody for only two days, raising questions about the handling of the case.

The court’s actions have sparked discussions even at the Supreme Court level.

Sources indicate that not only Arun Chaudhary but also Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa and Sanjay Thakur are slated for release today.

In the background, Binod Chaudhary has reportedly been exerting considerable influence, mobilizing various channels from Baluwatar to the judiciary in efforts to secure his brother’s release.

Allegations have emerged of pressure being applied in support of the Deputy Prime Minister from Baluwatar, as well as towards a judge, who happens to be a batchmate of Chaudhary’s wife.
